Drink
abundantly
Thoughts are turned to the Lord's day tomorrow. It is Saturday evening, and
the thoughts of God's own are on the meeting together to drink of our blessed
Savior. He invites us for he finds great satisfaction in us. His thoughts also
are on the gathering of the redeemed of the Lord. So He says, "Yea, drink
abundantly, O beloved". We are the peculiar objects of His electing,
saving love.
How shall we hear as we congregate? Why, if we are His, then He comes to meet
with us. "I am come into my garden, my sister, my spouse". We not
only drink of Him, but we eat. "Eat, O friends". There is only One
food and drink. "He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my
blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him" (John 6:56).
What a loving invitation! To know Him is to be eager to assemble and sing and
pray and hear Him speak. Yes, I do anticipate the public worship tomorrow.
Many years ago, before grace came, the question was, "Are we going to
church?", now the question is, "Why is it so far off?" Oh, the
joy of seeing the saints and the hear Him say, "Eat, O friends; drink,
yea, drink abundantly, O beloved."
